ASHLIN McANDREW STUDIO
The easiest way to talk about myself and how I got to this point, is what I have often percieved to be a series of failures and wrong turns – now I understand how those mishaps have connected me deeply with parts of myself and have been part of my journey -- however messy and mis-shapen it's looked.
When people ask me what I do I say "I'm an artist" – maybe the easiest, simplest way to encapsulate what I feel like I do. I guess I see the roles of the artist in society, not just as the 'makers' or 'renderers' but the seers – we have to be able to see to be able to render.
So my work is about seeing deeply, listening deeply, attuning.
Shedding light on unseen corners.
My work documents my journey of investigation into the world we inhabit and simultaneously my investigation into myself. Sometimes my work is a critique of the systems we are forced to live inside, other times, it's a reminder of our expansiveness that seems unable to fit any mould.
What anchors me and what I feel most passionate about, is being of service – being of service to new world with a new consciousness.
