About the workshop

This experiential workshop weaves together art-making, somatic awareness, and collective healing through the transformative practice of working with found objects.

Grief is inherent to the process of being human. Living a material existence in a physical body means we and our environments decay and change. We don’t always acknowledge this grief—the loss woven into daily life, the small deaths of transition, the weight of impermanence as we witness ourselves, others and our environment decay and sometimes even disappear. This workshop allows space to explore the strange grief of being human.

As both an artist and somatic experiencing practitioner, I've discovered that our relationship with certain objects and materials often mirrors our internal landscape. The objects we're drawn to—whether we understand why or not—frequently represent parts of our unconscious, reflecting back aspects of ourselves we're ready to see and integrate.

In this workshop, we'll work with found and discarded materials as a pathway to transmute grief into insight, resilience, and deeper self-understanding. Through the creative process, we'll explore how external objects can serve as bridges to our inner world, helping us metabolize loss and discover new meaning.

What to Expect
  • Found, discarded materials will be provided for your creative exploration
  • You're encouraged to bring your own meaningful objects or found materials
  • If you have time, I recommend exploring Resourceful Santa Fe to collect objects or materials that resonate with you – even if you don’t understand why.

No art experience necessary—only a willingness to be present with what arises.
